EMPLOYMENT: THE LOCAL AREA

The Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill area is called the Research Triangle. The three cities are about 30 minutes apart and easily accessible no matter where in the Triangle you live. Raleigh offers a variety of things to do and many of them are free.

Entertainment

There are many venues for live music. The larger venues include the RBC Center and Alltel Pavilion. For a more intimate experience you can see your favorite artist at the Koko Booth Amphitheater in Cary. There are also smaller clubs, like Cat’s Cradle, a smaller venue where several up and coming bands can be heard.

If performing arts are more your style then you can check out the NC Symphony, Carolina Ballet, or Broadway productions put on by Broadway Series South.

Maybe you are a movie buff and like to spend your time watching the latest flick on the big screen. There is no shortage of movie theatres in the area and film festivals are held every summer in Durham.

We also have plenty of bars and dance clubs if you are looking for a place to have a beer and shake your money maker. Some favorites in Raleigh are: The Pour House and Flying Saucer Draught Emporium.

Sports

The Triangle is the home of the NC State Wolfpack, the UNC Tarheels, and the Duke Blue Devils. March Madness takes on a whole new meaning when you live here.

Just because you are in the South doesn’t mean you have to give up your love of watching NHL Hockey. Check out the 2006 Stanley Cup Champions, the Carolina Hurricanes!

Baseball fans can watch the Triple-A Durham Bulls in downtown Durham. We also have a Double-A team called the Carolina Mudcats in Zebulon.

Quick Day Trips

The Blue Ridge Mountains are only 3 hours away. During Peak Week in October you will see the most brilliant show of color as the leaves change. The Mountains also offer plenty of hiking, mountain biking, snow skiing and rock climbing. You can also check out America’s largest home, Biltmore Estate, in Asheville.

Sun and surf await on the coast of NC, a mere two hours away. Wilmington is home to several beautiful beaches. The Outer Banks are also a popular destination, but take a bit longer to get to.
